Wall Parish Council – Vacancy for Part-Time Clerk
5 hours per week, at fixed spinal column point 12 (currently £11.73 per hour).
Our current parish clerk is moving out of the area, and so we are seeking a new part-time Clerk to start as soon as possible.
The parish is located about 3 miles south of Lichfield and has about 470 residents living within the main settlement of Wall Village and surrounding hamlets of Chesterfield, Hilton, Muckley Corner and Pipe Hill. The post is home-based, and a Home Allowance (currently £26 per month) is paid for this. There are about 6 evening Council meetings a year and occasional site visits etc.
The Clerk is the sole employee of the Council and manages council business, assisting and advising the council in all aspects of local government administration and ensuring compliance with legal and financial obligations. The Clerk is also the council’s Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) managing all aspects of the council’s finances. Applicants should have book-keeping experience, a good working knowledge of Word and Excel and preferably previous local government experience. The successful applicant will be encouraged to obtain the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) if not already obtained.
The role requires motivation and enthusiasm, together with good management, organisational and personal communication skills.
